How do I wear falls?
Your hair needs to be long enough to put into two very high buns or ponytails. Then, depending on how the dreads are mounted on the falls, either:
For falls on stretch lace/ ribbon/other fabric mount:
Tie the lace tightly around the base of the bun until it feels secure. Secure with bobby pins/kirby grips. Style and position as desired.
For falls on claw clips:
You may want to leave your hair in a ponytail or make a kind of sausage-shaped bun. Clip the claw clip over the bun or ponytail. You shouldn't be able to see the claw clip, only the dreads. Style and position as desired.
You may find it helps to tie another piece of stretchy fabric, like tights, around the base of the fall to give it more security.
You could also wear both falls together as a single larger fall.
If the falls are pulling on your hair or feel too heavy, try repositioning them - if this doesn't work, try taking one dread from each fall and knotting it in the middle of your head, so the falls are attached to each other and balancing each other over your head. This should take the strain off your ponytails/buns.
Single falls are attached in the same way but you will not be able to use the knotting/balancing trick to take the weight off.
How do I braid in double-ended dreads?
You can do this yourself or get a friend to help you. You will need double-ended dreads, small rubber bands and a few hours to spare. Section your hair into as many sections as you have dreads. Taking one section, split it into two and place the middle of the dread in between. Cross your two pieces of hair over the dread and start braiding down the length of the dread. When you reach the end of your hair, use a rubber band to close the braid. If you reach the end of the dread and still have hair left, you can either braid back up the dread or change tack and try the box-braid method, which I won't attempt to explain here. Check below for picture tutorials.
You can also pay a professional to install your dreads for you. If you're Southampton based I recommend Braidstorm - there's a few people in the links section who can help you, or you can ask at local hairdressers. Afro-caribbean hair salons are likely to have more experienced braiders, and may be cheaper.
How do I wear a wig?
If you have short hair, just make sure it's clipped away from your face. If you have long hair you may want to buy a wig cap to hold your hair off your face. Twist your hair into a low ponytail at the back and spread the rest of your hair over your head, then pull the wig cap on from the back. You could also just clip your hair all over your head so that it's evenly spread out. If you don't want to buy a wig cap, you could cut the legs off an unworn pair of tights and use the 'pants' of the tights as a wig cap. The bulk of your hair should be at the base of your skull, not on top of your head or you'll look odd once the wig's on.
Don't flip your head over with the wig upside down- you'll only tangle it, and if it's a dread wig then when you throw your head back it'll probably come flying off.
Use your hands to spread out the inside of the wig, and place the front edge of the wig onto your own hairline. Then ease the rest of the wig over your head - you may find it easier to take one hand out to hold the front edge of the wig in place and use your other hand to pull the wig back over your head. Reposition as necessary.
If you plan to be doing any dancing or exercise and want to keep your wig on, use lots of hairpins around the edges of the wig to hold it in place. If you've used enough, you should be able to do anything without it coming off.
How do you make your dreads?
I use kanekalon synthetic hair, backcomb it, steam it and then seal the ends with a heat clamp. If you'd like to try making your own, check out the tutorials section , but be warned, it can be a very expensive and time-consuming hobby.
How are dreads attached to falls?
I usually tie or sew double ended dreads onto stretch lace. I can also attach them to claw-clips if you prefer. Foam/crin/plastic falls I usually attach to claw clips as they seem to hold better, but if you prefer I can also attach them onto netting and stretch lace. They may be difficult to hold in place as they can be heavier than dread falls.
Can you install dreads for me?
Short answer, no. If you're Southampton based I recommend Braidstorm - there's a few people in the links section who can help you, or you can ask at local hairdressers. Afro-caribbean hair salons are likely to have more experienced braiders, and may be cheaper.
You can also give it a go yourself - check out the tutorials section for picture tutorials.

How much is postage and packaging?
Usually about £4 for 2nd class recorded delivery within the UK.
Do you ship internationally?
I'm happy to ship anywhere in the world, but the shipping + exchange rates for some currencies may mean it's not worth your while. Have a look at the links section for hair sellers who may be based closer to you.

I do intend to make some of my own tutorials soon - so watch this space. In the works are tutorials for making single ended dreads, and sealing dreads with a hairdryer.
